Water - The Drink of Choice for Every Diet
"Is Water Good for Skin?"
Organs need to be properly hydrated in order to function effectively. This is true for skin, our largest organ.
Hydrated skin looks healthier and younger. It can help visibly minimize the signs of premature aging!
In addition, water's a natural way to help the body flush out toxins and biological waste.
A build up of these "undesirables" are said to lead to acne, eczema, wrinkling and other skin conditions.
"How much water should I drink?"
8 servings of 8-10oz per day is the usual recommendation.
If you are physically active or live in an arid climate you will need to compensate.
A general rule is to never become thirsty if you can help it.
Drink water in between meals to curb the snaking habit and to make sure that you do not become dehydrated.
Tips for Getting the Most from Water for Your Skin
- Never freeze or heat water in a plastic bottle then consume it. Chemicals from the plastic can leach into the water.
- Distilled water is absent of minerals. Skin loves minerals. Drinking mineral water is healthy and generally tastes better.
- Tap water is usually just as good as most bottled water (or better). Have your household water tested if you are unsure.
Installing a filter will help trap chlorine and other contaminants. Charcoal and carbon filters are the most widely used and usually the most economical. These filters should not trap nourishing minerals!
- Installing a filter on your showerhead or bath may help your skin.
Chlorine and other chemicals in the water can be hard on our skin. Not to mention that they may be absorbed through the skin! Many folks are finding great skin and health benefits from this tip!
- Spray your face with mineral water before applying moisturizer! This will lock in moisture and minerals that skin loves. It will keep your face dewy fresh all day and night! (Use a glass spray bottle and change water frequently.)
Water is one the most important beauty basics in the world. Make sure you are getting yours!
Here's to your health and glowing skin, naturally!
