Types of Acne Most Effectively Treated with Natural Remedies

The most common types of acne are appropriately lumped under the term, Acne Vulgaris. For anyone who has ever suffered with acne, you know it can be quite vulgar.

Some suffer with mild bouts of whiteheads or blackheads, and/or maybe a few papules or pustules. Others, may have more severe acne with all of the above and the more painful cysts or nodules.

Acne Vulgaris can occur anywhere on the body. It is most commonly found on the forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, chest, and back.

Different Types of Acne (Vulgaris) at a glance….

  • Whiteheads: blocked pores from dead skin cells, bacteria and oil. Small white and/or clear bumps form.
  • Blackheads: partially blocked pores. The black color is due to the melanin of the skin during dark from reacting with oxygen. It is not from dirt. These usually last longer than whiteheads.
  • Papules: are tender, red and swollen bumps.
  • Pustules: (zits) are like papules with a white or yellow center. “Popping” these is NOT considered an effective acne home remedy.
  • Nodules or Cysts: are painful, extremely deep, pus-filled lesions beneath the skin.

As mentioned earlier, these types of acne are quite common. If you are unsure of what you are dealing with be sure to contact a dermatologist. However, if you are not comfortable with the acne treatments they offer, you may want to consider trying some natural remedies first. Be sure to visit the Natural Acne Treatments page for more information.

As a chronic, mild to moderate acne sufferer from adolescence, I know how frustrating this skin condition can be. But please do not make the mistake of drying out your skin with harsh cleansers to treat it. You may be causing more harm and increasing the risk for premature aging of the skin.

Please, look around this site for more skin care tips. I will be updating with more information. Until then...
