Organic Makeup for Great Looks and Healthy Skin
Natural and Organic Makeup Should Contain Few to Zero Synthetic Chemicals
News about toxic chemicals used by certain sectors of the cosmetics industry has the demand for organic makeup on the rise.
From mercury in mascara to lead in lipstick, there is reason for concern.
Conflicting and confusing information about the "safe" allowable amount of toxic chemicals has many consumers looking for better options.
Response by the Cosmetics Industry...
Every day recognizable brands are coming out with organic cosmetics alternatives. Retail stores are just starting to catch on to the natural makeup craze.
That being said, there are some exclusive and reliable companies that have always manufactured natural and organic makeup. However, these products can be nearly impossible to find in stores.
The internet remains the venue of necessity for most when it comes to finding the greatest variety of organic makeup.
The best selection that I have found is at www.skinbotanica.com. They carry several exclusive lines of natural and organic cosmetics as well as other natural skin care products.
Areas of Special Attention
The process of applying makeup is a daily ritual (or chore!) for many of us. Choosing quality, natural makeup will help to ensure that the product is free of potentially dangerous ingredients.
This is extremely essential when application is around the eyes and mouth.
Using
natural eye makeup
and mascara will help keep damaging chemicals out of delicate eyes.
Remember to use a gentle makeup remover for the eyes and entire face. It should cleanse skin without drying it out.
Using a natural or
organic lipstick
is also important. The array of colors from which to choose gives plenty of options for every skin tone!
But that's not all...
Natural makeup should be full of skin loving ingredients.
These should provide coverage while feeling "light" and allowing skin to b..r..e..a..t..h..e..
There is a growing variety of
natural mineral makeup
to match every skin tone.
There is even
anti aging makeup
that can help prevent signs of premature aging!
Tips for finding the BEST and SAFEST makeup...
Have you ever wondered, "What is my skin tone?"
Knowing your skin tone is extremely important when finding the right makeup.
Most people of all ethnic backgrounds fall into two categories... warm and cool skin tones.
In my experience the best test for finding the correct skin tone is the vein test.
In the natural light look at the veins in your skin. The wrist usually works best.
Do they look blue or green?
If blue... you are a cool tone - welcome to the club!
If they appear green... you are a warm tone!
"What if they look bluish-green?"
Congratulations! In this case you may be a neutral tone.
This probably means you have more options when buying and picking colors and shades. Although, your complexion might favor either cool or warm tones.
Can't see your veins?
People with thicker skin (lucky you! that probably means you're less susceptible to wrinkling and cellulite!) have a hard time deciphering the color of their veins.
Another test for finding the right skin tone is to take a pure white towel and wrap it around your face. Next, do the same with a beige or tan towel.
Which one makes your skin "pop?" Cools tend to look bright and fresh against the white background. Warms are best complimented next to the beige.
"So what does this mean when choosing natural and organic makeup?"
Cools tend to look best in blue based cosmetics. Look for names of shades such as, "ivory" or "ice." Your eye makeup and lipsticks often look best in rose, plums and mauves.
As for clothes... cool tones wear bold, jewel toned colors well. Emerald greens and ruby reds are for us!
Warm toned people should look for natural makeup that has a yellow base. Popular names often include adjectives like, "beige" and "almond."
Eyes and lips look great in golds, corals and browns.
You might find that extra spring in your step every time you wear earthy colors like sage greens, and beige!
Keep in mind there are always exceptions! Because it worked for me, doesn't mean it will absolutely work for you. Use your good judgment and experience.
Number One Rule for all Makeup Wearers!
The most important tip when it comes to wearing organic makeup is this...
Cosmetics should accentuate your positives and minimize your not-so-positives.
Remember... you should wear the makeup. The makeup should not wear you!
