Organic Baby Clothes and Eczema
Organic baby clothes are ideal for child's delicate skin.This is more important than ever when dealing with baby eczema. Besides using natural baby products to relieve itching and redness, organic clothing may help to reduce eczema flare-ups. You certainly won't need to worry about chemicals from conventional clothing entering their system through an already compromised skin barrier.
Most of us don't think much about our children's skin (much less, our own) being affected by their clothing.
But think about a typical cotton body suit. The cotton was most likely treated with an herbcide before harvesting. It may also have been exposed to pesticides and chemical fertilizers. You should not have a problem finding adorable styles for both boys and girls. Continue to look for companies and clothing that are certified organic. This means, they not only use cotton that is hand-picked and ring spun from organic cotton farms, but also use low-impact chemical dyes which contain no metals so that your baby's organic clothes are free from allergens. There are some great deals on organic baby clothes out there. However, if the price of these are just too much, you may want to consider a compromise. For instance, you may wish to buy organic cotton baby clothes and linens that will directly be touching the skin for prolonged periods of time. For instace, you may consider organic undershirts, bodysuits, sheets and pajamas. Great tip! Add 1 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle while doing laundry. This will freshen baby clothes naturally!
Don't forget to wash all new clothes in a "dye free", "fragrance free" detergent. Label reading is still in order here. But the bright side is once you find the products you like, you will know where to go to find more. You will also be of sound mind, knowing that you are doing all you can for the health and safety of your most precious little one.
