Natural Eye Makeup
Organic Cosmetics and Natural Mascara Can Relieve Your Bloodshot Eyes
Natural eye makeup should be free of chemical ingredients that can irritate eyes. I suffered with bloodshot eyes for most of my adult life. I figured it was mostly due to allergies.
It wasn't until I began to use
natural facial skin care products
that I started to notice a difference. My eyes weren't as red... until I applied makeup. Once I did - bloodshot eyes again!
This got me searching for natural eye makeup!
Natural and organic makeup is rising in popularity for many reasons.
Concerns regarding toxic chemicals in conventional products have people looking for safer alternatives.
The good news is you don't have to settle for just a few boring colors.
(Smoky eyes are still the rage... but don't just think, black, brown and gray. Smokey eyes done in violets, greens, and blues are new and fresh. See below for the "how to.")
As demand for organic cosmetics soar so does the selection of products.
Natural eye makeup,
organic lipstick
, natural mascara and foundations can be found in just about any color for any skin tone if you know where to look. See the
organic makeup page
for help discovering your skin tone!
The largest variety of natural skin care and organic cosmetics that I've found is at www.skinbotanica.com.
Afterglow Cosmetics also carries fine mineral cosmetics and natural eye shadows in some of the more bold and trendier colors.
Oh... and yes. Using natural eye makeup and natural mascara did cure my bloodshot eyes. Give it a try, they may cure yours too!
Ever Wonder How to do Smoky Eyes?
There are some basic guidelines that everyone should follow to create the smoky eye effect...
- Have a minimum of two natural eye shadow colors. These should be of contrast... a light base with a rich dark color.
Using 3 colors is "allowed" if you want to get fancy. Although, practicing with two is recommended.
- Complimentary natural eyeliner should be used.
If you decide to go with traditional black or brown smoky eyes, a black, brown or charcoal liner will be best.
If you want to be trendier and do a jewel toned eye, you may wish to use a blue, green or another complimentary color.
- Eyelid preparation can be as easy as applying the base color over the entire lid or using a special primer.
I prefer to dust on a light amount of my mineral foundation. Don't forget to prep under your eyes!
- Eyeliner usually goes on first. (Some prefer to do this after the light base coat that preps the entire lid.)
The top lid should be lined from corner to corner.
The bottom lid should be lined from 3/4 to 1/2 way from the outside corner.
Very few people can get away with lining the bottom lid from corner to corner without looking like a raccoon. But if you can - go for it!
Smudging is the name of the game for smoky eyes. Make sure the liner is worked well into the lash line. This goes for the top and bottom. You can use a smudge brush, clean finger or a Q-tip.
- Apply your natural eye makeup in the dark shade of your choice next. This should go on the top lid, over or blended well into the liner and to the crease of your lid.
You may wish to accentuate the outer crease with a bit more of the same natural eye shadow or a shade slightly darker.
- 5. If you didn't apply the light base already do so now. It should go from the crease to the brow.
- Make sure that the colors are blended but that contrast remains.
- Last but not least is the natural mascara. Black or brown is usually best for this. Make sure you curl your lashes first if you need to.
Wha-la! Easy smoky eyes with natural eye makeup!
Wear a natural look with organic cosmetics or create dramatic effects. Either way, natural ingredients will look great and maintain eye health.
