My Son's Cradle Cap Pictures

The cradle cap pictures I took of my son's head are not the most clear. My apologies. Photography is not my strong suit!

What does Cradle Cap Look Like?

I hope you are able to see the yellowish, crusty scales under his hair. He actually has this around the whole crown of his head. He used to have it on his eyebrows, forehead and around his ears. I've been treating his cradle cap (seborrheic dermatitis) with natural remedies for about 4 months at the time of this writing.

During the winter time when the forced air heat came on I had to change my routine a bit. He is prone to dry skin and began to develop baby eczema . At the same time, the seborrheic dermatitis (cradle cap) on his head seemed to become very dry and bother him.

I noticed he was scratching his head ferociously. When this happened I decided to use organic olive oil on his head twice daily.

In the morning, I apply liberal amounts of oil to his head and rub it in with my fingers. I noticed the feeling of sand crystals. These were the dry scales coming off. No wonder they itched him!

After the gentle rubbing, I wipe off the extra olive oil with a warm washcloth. I don't use shampoo or cleanser. This way some of the natural oil stays on his skin for moisturizing. I repeat this in the evening before bedtime.

((Don't forget my best facial moisturizer made with olive oil for parents!))

Even though he still has cradle cap, I don't feel those sharp feeling scales anymore. Thankfully, he has stopped scratching at his head! Chalk one up for Mom!
